Cent Blames ‘Empire’ Ratings Drop on Too Much ‘Gay Stuff’
Do you agree with 50 Cent‘s comments about “Empire?” We could not take the extra gay stuff or celebrity stuff last night!!!!’
The Candy Shop star, who produces similar show “Power”, took to Instagram, criticising the Fox show for the “gay stuff”.
While it was later removed from the social media platform, Cinema Blend was quick enough to get a snapshot of the post in question.
“Empire’s TV ratings took a huge hit”, 50 Cent wrote in all caps in the caption. Ok I’ll stop now, COOKIE CALL ME BABY.
50 Cent always has something to say about Empire, FOX’s hit drama that’s been running the ratings game since its inception.
It is unclear if the “he” 50 Cent is referring to is Jamal (Jussie Smollett), the homosexual son of Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) on “Empire”, but this is not the first time this season Jackson has been slamming the show on Instagram. The week before, Empire’s second season premiere ballooned to 22.5 million with viewership on online streaming portals included.
On the other hand, the outlet also cited a notable fact that the series had been experiencing decline in rating because more people are opting to watch the show DVR instead of real-time on-demand which allows them to view their preferred episode at their own leisure.
And also kind of absurd – only because even though Empire did see a drop in viewers in their second week, it was from 16 million in the season premiere (a massive audience), to 13.7 million in episode two (STILL a massive audience!!).
