Syndergaard strikes out 13, Mets power past D-backs 4
Jeurys Familia will not be joining Jacob deGrom at the All-Star Game in Cincinnati, as the Mets closer finished in last place in the National League Final Vote totals. Arizona manager Chip Hale and a trainer came out, but Anderson walked it off and threw one warmup pitch before staying in the game. Anderson’s last start against the Mets on June 6 was also solid. The D-Backs were able to get the victory in that game 2-1.
Rather than representing another rung up the ladder for us, this evening’s game in New York proved to be a painful reality check, as the Diamondbacks offense was cut down like so much fresh hay by Noah Syndergaard.
Syndergaard’s performance salved the hurt of the most recent Mets’ injury news. He has given up 35 hits in those 33 innings.

Left hander Patrick Corbin makes his second start of the season when he face the Mets at Citi Field. He’s 4 for 40 in his last 13 games, while Lucas Duda is 2 for 29 in July. Corbin pitched well in his first major league appearance in over a year. However, fortunately for Tomas, review showed otherwise, though I still imagine a quiet word will be had by Dave McKay on the topic of not making the first out of an inning at third – especially when you are down by three runs. Corbin will look to continue to build on his last outing against a Mets team who has problems hitting as of late.
Syndergaard allowed four hits and one run in eight innings and struck out a career-high 13 as he made first-inning homers by Lucas Duda and Michael Cuddyer stand up for a 4-2 victory over Arizona at Citi Field on Friday. Alderson said it was his decision to let Matz make his next start, seven days later against the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 104 1/3 innings, Harvey has 100 strikeouts.
Every member of Arizona’s starting lineup struck out at least once.
Carlos Torres has not been pitching his best for a while now. “Used all his off-speed pitches – his changeup to righties even. His breaking ball was impressive, and then located his fastball”. Who knows?

Certain aspect of their game appear to coming collectively.
Matz’s partial tear was diagnosed Thursday during an examination at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. “He will be re-examined in the proverbial three weeks”, general manager Sandy Alderson said. The Mets have a few options to fill this spot.
Collins explained the high pitch count by noting that Syndergaard won’t pitch again “for seven days”, meaning he could be in line to start one of the games at St. Louis next weekend.
