Hurricane Loses A Little Steam

Residents of the mid-Atlantic British dependency secured patio furniture and stocked up on gas as the Category 3 hurricane’s outer bands buffeted Bermuda with gusty winds and scattered rain.
The crew reported that the ship had lost power, had taken on water and was listing 15 degrees but that the situation was “manageable”, in their last communication on Thursday morning, TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico, said.
Huge thunderstorms can been off to the north of the enormous category 4 storm.
It will head towards the United Kingdom from there and as it does, it weakens gradually across the Atlantic over the cooler water.
The Government of the Bahamas has discontinued all watches and warnings for the northwestern Bahamas. Rick Meehan, mayor of Ocean City said.

However, while the storm is curving away from land, it’s a deep source of moisture still, and two unrelated systems, an upper level low and a Bermuda high, have joined to funnel that moisture inland. It’s moving north at 3 miles per hour (6 kph).
“This settled weather continues into Friday as well, so it is a rather contrasting week”.
Record rainfall lashed the state Sunday, resulting in what the National Weather Service called “historic and life-threatening flooding”.

Hurricane Joaquin is battering the central Bahamas and moving northward. He says people aren’t panicking too much. All of the winds are slamming up against the east coast.

About 100 people had to be helped from low-lying homes in Salem, Virginia. It has sustained top winds of 125 miles per hour (205 kph).
The islands from Eleuthera to Long Island and Crooked Island endured the worst and an extended period of Joaquin’s fury late last week as the once-major hurricane slowly tracked through the region.
