‘Well I’ll be damned’: McDonald’s swears its ‘Minions’ Happy Meal toys don’t
“Minions”, a prequel of the “Despicable Me” movies, premieres Friday.

Some parents have been complaining that McDonald’s minion toys, particularly the one depicting a caveman, are uttering expletives.
McDonald’s Corp is standing by its latest Happy Meal toy, denying that its Minions are the foul-mouthed playthings that some of its fast-food customers say they are.
Parents have been posting clips of the minions online, and to many people it sounds like the child’s toy is cursing.
The figurines were made to tie-in with the Minions movie and spout a number of phrases when slammed on desk.
Star Tribune reported that the Oak Brook, Illinois-based company has issued a statement saying the words coming from the small yellow toys are purely nonsense words, nothing offensive or profane.
“Our goal at McDonald’s is to serve up food and fun for our valued customers, and we’re glad to have the Minions on board”, the company said in its statement.
In response to these complaints, Mcdonald’s said that there are no plans to remove a talking happy meal toy out of distribution.
So how exactly did this controversy happen?
“The brain tries to find a pattern match, even when just receiving noise, and it is good at pattern recognition”, Novella explained.
