Lil Wayne Claims Birdman Also Ripped Off Drake & Nicki Minaj
However, it has been discovered that in Lil Wayne‘s latest legal conquest to rid himself of Birdman business, the MTV Ridiculousness co-star never actually got her contract in writing.
All three rap superstars Nicki, Drake and Tyga are signed to Lil Wayne’s label Young Money, but YM falls under the Cash Money umbrella and Lil Wayne is saying it’s CM responsibility to pay artists and producers. In this instance, we can’t question Birdman’s decision too much, but perhaps this is one of many incidents in which Birdman didn’t give Wayne proper control over the artists on his Young Money roster. It was previously reported that rapper Lil Wayne is suing label co-founder Birdman for $51m (£33.5m) and now fresh claims suggest musicians Tyga, Nicki Minaj and Drake could be joining him.
Wayne also alleges in the new legal docs that Young Money was stiffed their share of a $100 million advance that Cash Money received from Universal Music Group.
It was thought that Chanel West Coast signed to Young Money in 2013, and to this day, she’s still featured on the official website as an artist. The advance went directly to Cash Money and Young Money claims it did not receive the check.
