The name of the winning bidder has not been released, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Other Hollywood treasures that fetched six-figure winning bids included George Reeves’ Superman costume ($216,000/£135,000);Harrison Ford’s signature screen used Indiana Jones bullwhip ($204,000/£127,500); Norma Shearer’s 1930 Best Actress Academy Award ($180,000/£113,000), and the General Lee auto from The Dukes of Hazzard ($120,000/£75,000). The spaceship is the first spacecraft seen in the Star Wars franchise, and had an opening bid of $200,00 before selling for $450,000.
Speaking about Leia’s character development in the third Star Wars film, Fisher told Rolling Stone: “She gets to be more feminine, more supportive, more affectionate”. That distinction goes to another Princess Leia item: A miniature of the Tantive IV Blockade Runner.
With a new “Star Wars” moving hitting theaters soon, one can bet that this ad is just the first in a series of ad campaigns that will cover TV over the news couple months leading into the holiday season.
