Paul McCartney “Say Say Say” (2015 remix ft. Michael Jackson)
The 2015 version features never-before-heard vocals by both Jackson and McCartney, over DJ John “Jellybean” Benitez’s instrumental remix for the song, which is a part of this year’s remastered version of the album Pipes of Peace. Watch it exclusively on Paul’s Facebook here. The flick follows an energetic teenage boy as he dances his way through his urban Los Angeles neighborhood, trading steps with a variety of people he encounters along his journey.
While the audio remix makes it hard to distinguish McCartney’s vocals from Jackson’s (and the vocal sequence is inverted from the original song, with Jackson opening this version), the video, directed and choreographed by Ryan Huffington, is a sweet romp.
In 1983 two music icons, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, collaborated on the single “Say Say Say” which hit the top of the charts and stayed there for six weeks.
The collaboration between the 73-year-old former Beatle and the late Michael started with a phone call, when the Thriller star contacted him over the telephone. “Michael who?!’. Anyway, we had a joke about that kind of thing, and he said, ‘yeah, I’d like to come over and write with you”, so I said great. By the end of the tune, you’ll be dancing just as hard as the granny in the sequined dress. So he came over to England and we just sat down.
