Destiny to Sell Additional Emotes
It seems that one of the surprises that Bungie is planning for the future of Destiny is the introduction of microtransactions for the social shooter, with the company announcing that it will introduce a new Eververse Trading Company to the game on October 13. Tess Everis will return to the Tower with a new Eververse storefront. Detailed on the Bungie website, players will be able to purchase new emotes using Silver, a new in-game currency which will be purchasable using real-world money via the console’s relevant store (so Xbox Live for Xbox consoles, and PSN store for PlayStation consoles). Those Boring Coins you earn by completing your “job” back on Earth? Tess, the new emotes, and detailed pricing information will show up on October 13 during the weekly reset.
Bungie states, “If you’re not interested in what Tess has to offer, you won’t ever be forced to pluck an item off of her shelf”.
Of course, there’s something to be said for raising the spirits of a flagging raid team with a sassy dance emote. “Going forward, our live team is also looking to grow beyond vital updates and improvements to focus on world events, experiences, and feature requests”. Current players will receive a small amount of Silver for free at that time, which should be enough to take one or two of the new emotes for a test ride. Players who bought Destiny at launch and then all of itsthreeexpansions have spent a lot of money on the game. Even though Bungie claims we won’t see this happen, it would be easy money, and it wouldn’t be surprising at all if we saw it happen somewhere down the line.
