Watch Microsoft Unveil The Latest Windows 10 Devices
The post’s aim was not to present a new Lumia phone, but to discuss Microsoft’s actions in expanding the list of compatible apps with Cortana.
Microsoft is holding an event tomorrow, October 6, 2015 to announce the launch of several Windows 10 devices, one of which we suspect will be the Surface Pro 4. The larger 950 XL is likely to have largely the same specs, save for a 5.7-inch display of the same resolution, octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, and a 3300mAh battery. Images also reveal that the 950 XL also packs in a front-facing selfie flash. In order to snap images and selfies more comfortably, there is also a dedicated camera button present on both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
Both have USB-C fast and Qi wireless charging, 3GB RAM, 32GB memory that is expandable up to 2TB with microSD and a 20MP camera that has Zeiss optics. After the successful release of Windows 10, the company gears up to introduce upcoming smartphones with its first-ever Windows 10 Mobile build. In short, if you connect an external display, mouse, and keyboard to your phone, you can use it like a basic PC. The report is also in line with statements made by Microsoft’s Satya Nadella about the company reducing its number of handsets and focusing only on smartphones in the value, business (mid-range), and high-end segments.
The display on the device received a significant update, being enlarged at 12.3-inches from 12-inches, without the size of the actual device being enlarged at all. This means you can get all the information as it happens as well as expert comment and photos of launch event (most importantly the products).
Telsyte estimated that Microsoft would sell 300,000 Windows phones in the second half of 2015. These different versions will share a typical Windows core and a regular Windows Store, which is an increasing series of development resources and various distributed user interface features. The Lumia 950 and 950XL will have starting prices of $549 and $649 respectively when they go on sale in November, while the Lumia 550 will cost $139 when it becomes available in December.
