Mario Ojemudia Injury: Updates on Michigan LB’s Achilles and Recovery

The senior was helped off the field by teammates Saturday during the second half of his team’s eventual 28-0 win against the Maryland Terrapins. That is a hard, tough rehab type of injury.

“I think they’ll be back in a few form or fashion today”, he said. “I really feel good about it”. Surgery and then you just can’t do anything. Offensive coordinator Tim Drevno also sounded optimistic earlier this week that his top back was headed in the right direction.

“Where he’ll go, if he goes through the tough, grueling rehab, he’ll continue to playing football (in the NFL) next year, the year after and for a few time to come because he’s a very talented player”, Harbaugh said.

Ojemudia has played in the hybrid rush linebacker/defensive end role and was third on the Wolverines in tackles (19), second in tackles for loss (six) and had two sacks.

Losing Ojemudia is a hard blow for a Michigan defense that’s firing on all cylinders.

“We’ll look within our roster and our defense”. It remains to be seen if either will play Saturday when the 18th-ranked Wolverines host No. 13 Northwestern, but so far, Harbaugh seems encouraged. Harbaugh said either Royce Jenkins-Stone or Lawrence Marshall will take Ojemudia’s spot in the starting lineup.

The Wildcats are giving up an average of seven points a game and the Wolverines are allowing 7.6, ranking No. 1 and 2 among FBS programs.
