Anti-Terror Raids in Sydney After Fatal Police Shooting
Now according to police, five people have been arrested, as you say, and they’ve now confirmed that those arrests are in relation to the fatal shooting of Curtis Cheng that took place outside Police Headquarters at Parramatta last Friday.
A FIFTH man was arrested but not detained as part of the counter terrorism operation.
About 200 police officers, including officers from the Homicide Squad and Australian Federal Police, were involved in Wednesday morning’s raids at Bursill Street in Guildford, Lane Street in Wentworthville, Lockwood Street in Merrylands, and Booth Street in Marsfield.
The raids came a day after a student who attended the same school as Jabar was arrested and charged over alleged posts on social media.
Police finance worker Curtis Cheng died when he was gunned down Friday outside police… The killer was shot dead by police.
He’s been given strict conditional bail and is expected to appear at a children’s court next month.
The 15-year-old boy was hailed as a “knight” of the Islamic State by supporters of the terrorist group and authorities are investigating whether there were any links between Jabar and British extremists.
Australian police have raided homes in Sydney’s western suburbs.
The boy’s mother told the Daily Mail Australia through an interpreter she would punish him.
Police suspects that the teenage gunman was politically motivated and link his attack to terrorism.
Police have also refused to confirm if they were investigating comments reportedly made by Jabar’s friends that he met with two men about 45 minutes before the attack, after leaving a Parramatta mosque. “The gunman’s exact motivations remain a mystery”, Scipione said in a news release.
