Temporary Restraining Order Against Rutgers Football Star Carroo Lifted
Carroo and the alleged victim appeared in Family Court on Tuesday and the alleged victim told the judge she was dropping the restraining order voluntarily.
Carroo, a former Don Bosco player, and the woman were slated to appear in Piscataway municipal court Tuesday afternoon in an effort to get the simple assault charges against Carroo dropped, the report states.
“All decisions about a player’s eligibility are left up to the coach”, Rutgers senior vice president for external affairs Pete McDonough told Dunleavy. Since joining the staff in 2004, the Morris County native also has covered the National Football League, MLB, NBA, the Somerset Patriots and high school sports.
Carroo and the alleged victim promising they will have no contact with each other, The Record reported.
The order was issued after Carroo was accused of attacking a woman after a football game last month.
Municipal court judge Dennis Fackleman pointedly addressed Carroo after accepting the dismissal, reminding the highly regarded National Football League prospect that all eyes are on him and that he is blessed to be in a fortunate position.
“The Carroo family and Leonte have no desire under any circumstances to come back into the system”.
Before letting him go, Fackelman asked Carroo if he understood how big a problem domestic violence was and whether he would make good decisions in the future.
The Scarlet Knights play host to No. 4 Michigan State at 8 p.m. ET Saturday night on BTN/BTN2Go. He subsequently was arrested and charged by police. Prosecutors said they did not have a strong enough case without the woman’s testimony, and the case was dropped.
“They’re attacking a woman – the only woman with white trousers”.
Carroo has been charged with simple assault, as have Vega’s father and Carroo’s mother. “We have all our witnesses here”. He does not represent any other parties in the altercation – though he guessed other charges in the incident might “fall by the wayside” once his client’s matter was resolved.
Even after missing two games, Carroo remains the team’s leading receiver in terms of yardage with seven catches for 181 yards and three touchdowns.
Rutgers doesn’t have a midweek football game, but star Leonte Carroo posted two wins on Tuesday.
