Atlanta Falcons: Game balls for Week 4 blowout victory
He coached 20 more years in the National Football League before he felt that stampeding sensation again, courtesy of another son of Alabama.
Roddy White is trying to remain a team player while admitting frustration over his role in the Atlanta Falcons’ offense. It’s something White had to understand heading into the season. The Panthers are on their bye week this week so with a win, the Falcons will be in sole possession of first place in the NFC South. That created gaping holes up front for Devonta Freeman, who darted right through for three touchdowns, and one-on-one opportunities for Leonard Hankerson, who won those matchups all afternoon. He settled for four receptions for 38 yards, which slowed his torrid pace – if only by a little.
Falcons wide receiver Roddy White now ranks fifth on the team in receptions with six catches through the first four weeks of the season. “We’ve been winning that way for a very long time, so we’ve got to be consistent”. The Falcons reached the NFC championship game the past two times they started 4-0, in 2004 and 2012.
S William Moore forced his first fumble of the season. His rushing yardage is just shy of Stewart, the starting running back.
Freeman leads the Falcons with 252 yards rushing this season, with more than 200 of those yards being gained in the past two weeks alone.
“We saw him on third down a lot previous year – he’s become a first and second down back, and third down”, Faulk said.
QB Matt Ryan was 19 of 27 for 256 yards with one touchdown and a 112.6 passer rating. If Jones does not respect a defender’s catching skills, he will say so. Sixty-two of those 80 yards came after the catch.
Considering this is a new offense run by Kyle Shanahan, it’s worth wondering if the 33-year-old White just doesn’t fit in his plans for the offense.
“I just have to stick in there and bear with it; just continue to do my job”.
After the Texans stopped Atlanta on the first drive of the game, they were in a good position to take the lead and set the tempo for the afternoon. They pulled them because they didn’t want to risk any injuries to key players, and because they were pretty damn sure they weren’t going to lose that game even with yours truly flailing around at corner. Falcons president Rich McKay recently cited during a radio interview that Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff found players to fit the new schemes.
White said he’ll “bear with it” and hopes there’s changes.
