Cayetano remains hopeful Duterte will run with him
Efforts to confirm Duterte’s latest revelation from the police and the military proved futile as of this posting.
Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said he indeed promised to support Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who on Monday announced his intention to run for vice president.
In Butuan City, OFW-Family party-list Rep. Roy Señeres said he would launch his presidential bid on Sunday at the Liwasang Bonifacio because not one of the presidential aspirants is taking up the cudgels for 15 million contract workers in the country and the plight of more than 10 million overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). The two reportedly talked about a possible teamup in next year’s polls. “He asked for a few advice on what he should do”. And while that meeting still failed to convince to change Duterte’s mind – for the time being, at least – it seemed to have softened Duterte’s resolve not to run for President. “(But) I’m hoping we will file together (as) there’s a bit possibility (that he might choose me as his running mate)”. Pia Cayetano, and wife Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, later met with Duterte.
The Duterte-Marcos tandem, however, was not discussed on Wednesday night. “This is what we can significantly do even as the federalism proposal goes through the longer route of constitutional amendment to take effect”, the statement added. “It was not discussed today”, Marcos said. Filing of candidacy begins October 12!
“He was gracious enough to promise me his support should I decide to run for Vice President”.
“I am Joel Villanueva, a certified bartender, from the tech-voc sector, applying for a job at Senate”, he said in a farewell speech during a tribute to TESDA scholars.
