Rahul Gandhi blames Modi for not fulfilling his promises
SHEIKHPURA, BIHAR: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of being more bothered about the presentation of his foreign visits and his clothes than the plight of farmers or the poor in India.
“During his recent United States visit, Modi was seen in 16 dresses on different occasions”, the Congress vice president said.
“In parliament, we raised the issue of Susma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje helping Lalit Modi for personal benefits”.
Gandhi said that Modi had promised to raise MSPs (Minimum Support Price), but farmers in Punjab, Harayana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra are committing suicide.
“Has anyone among you seen photos of the Prime Minister mingling with the farmers and labourers in torn clothes?” he asked, adding that Modi has never done it as he thinks that the poor people don’t have wisdom. “Have you ever seen Nitishji in any other colour than white?” said Rahul, addressing an election rally in Bihar’s Sheikhpura, about 120 km from Patna.
Training his guns on PM, Rahul said, “Wherever Modi goes, he makes false promises”. The former Union Minister said RSS was targeting Rahul as he was “successful in exposing their bid to polarise the people on communal lines”.
Cautioning the general public about Modi’s promises, Gandhi said: “People should keep in mind what happened to the promises made by Modi since he became the prime minister”.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi also highlighted the fact that seeing the current position of the poor farmers in the country, one can straight forwardly blame the NDA government for not fulfilling its promises that were made during the 2014 election polls.
“Please tell me, is there any one person out here who has Rs 15 lakh in his account?…”
He also questioned Modi government’s intentions on granting special status to Bihar. Addressing the people of Bihar to vote in favour of grand secular alliance, Mr Gandhi said that the cheap tactics of the BJP would not last longer.
