Selena Gomez Says Body Shamers Drove Her To Seek Therapy
Rather than spinning into a downward spiral, Selena Gomez made a decision to seek professional help when she was fat shamed earlier this year.
The singer now says that despite, finding it tough at first she has now managed to channel all that negativity and turn it into a positive.
Selena Gomez is done sitting back while paparazzi vultures and Internet trolls tear into her. On her upcoming album Revival, the pop star is taking charge of her life, career and image in a way she hasn’t before – so watch out, world.
“I’ve been working in therapy”, she admitted.

Selena Gomez is receiving therapy after being criticized for gaining weight. “I’d land at the airport and people would yell out, ‘You’re fat!’ It was terrible”, she revealed to the mag. “I could’ve had a stroke”, Gomez says of her time spent out of the spotlight, which gossip-mongers took as fodder for addiction rumors. “That was the first time I’d experienced body shaming like that”. Even like – I’m kind of seeing this girl, right? “That’s what the picture represents”, she added. “When stuff would happen, I would lose my freakin” mind, and she would lose her mind, and we would fight so hard because we were so invested in each other… “I have a little more self-awareness”.
On getting her kit off the 23-year-old said “it felt good”. I feel confident and free. “When people give me their worst, I give them my best”.
