Auburn’s Duke Williams punched four people prior to dismissal from team
“I gave D’haquille the chance to prove himself”.
On Wednesday, though, AL.com unveiled a story quoting anonymous sources that Williams punched four people at Skybar in Auburn Saturday after the Tigers’ win against San Jose State.
“It’s not easy and it shouldn’t be easy for a coach, but you have to what is best for the team”, he continued. “Some of the guys are doing a few things this week, but our main goal is to get them healthy for the stretch run”.
D’haquille “Duke” Williams, who was dismissed from the Auburn football program Monday, reportedly punched two security guards, a bartender and another patron, according to AL.com, in the event that resulted in his dismissal.
Williams “didn’t have much” of reaction when Malzahn met with him to deliver the news, and the senior isn’t staying enrolled at Auburn. “[I] really feel like we improved in all three phases”. “This is a good week for us to see what they can do in practice”. “Enjoy each and every day, each practice we have, and I feel like we did that today”. We feel good about our receiving crew.
Auburn needs to “get better at what we do”.
With Williams’s dismissal, Auburn lacks returning offensive production as pointed out by WUMP Morning Host and SEC analyst Cole Cubelic. “You can really see his urgency stepping up”.
Veteran wide receiver Wallace says the Tigers can move forward without Williams and that the decision “had to be done”.
When asked about the process of releasing the senior receiver, Malzahn said he feels good about the process that led us up to this point.
Trouble has seemed to follow the wide receiver, as Williams was suspended for last year’s Outback Bowl and was again suspended almost a week this summer for disciplinary issues.
“He did a few things”, Malzahn said.
