Celta Vigo striker Nolito staying grounded over
Celta Vigo attacker Nolito distances himself from speculation linking him with a January move to Barcelona.
The winger used to play for the Catalan club, but he left in 2011 in search of first-team football, which he found at Benfica, Granada and Celta.
“I’m trying to stay calm and help Celta as much as possible and to disconnect from everything that is being said about me”, Efe quoted Nolito as saying at the national team’s training complex in the town of Las Rozas outside Madrid on Wednesday.
“He’s there and it could happen, but he’s a Celta player”.
The Spain worldwide, who has scored five goals and assisted three in La Liga this term, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League since the summer.
Enrique, it’s suggested, wants a player who can be part of his squad from day one as he now only has youngsters Sandro Ramirez and Munir El Haddadi to back up Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, and 29-year-old Nolito is in his prime. I have a contract with Celta and I am truly focused on them. “Things are going well, I can’t complain, but I think the best is yet to come”, he said.
In a press conference, Torrecilla revealed the club are on the verge of rewarding Nolito with a new deal that, according to local newspaper Faro de Vigo, will set his release clause in £18.3m ($28.14m).
