London police shoot man after Taser shocks ‘had no effect’
A man has been shot by police in north London after attempts to contain him with a Taser gun failed.
Firearms officers were forced to intervene during the stand off in Kilburn Lane, Brent, northwest London.
Police were called at approximately 2:45am to reports of a disturbance in Claremont Road, where they tried to detain a man.
Police provided information about what happened in a news release Wednesday, in reference to an incident earlier in the day.
Firearms officers attended and the man was shot.
He was taken to hospital for observation given his apparent intoxication and arrested for public intoxication.
Police said one of the men involved was acting aggressively and would not respond to the officer’s questions.
Nobody else was injured during the incident and the Met’s directorate of professional standards was informed, police said.
