Rupert Murdoch tweets America needs ‘real black President’ – like Ben Carson
The reaction was swift from Twitter users, many of them highlighting the tough job Murdoch’s public relations team must have defending his tweets. Besides the usual semi-coherent ramblings about Australian politics, Murdoch in the digital age is mostly known for loudly wondering where all the non-white Egyptian people are and saying scaremongery, demonstrably untrue things about “Moslems”.
The 21st Century Fox executive chairman took to Twitter on Wednesday to compare GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson to current president Barack Obama.
Rupert Murdoch’s use of the words “real black President” was widely panned as questioning Obama’s race and identity.
There was virtually no gray area in the responses to the comment that went viral.
At least one person questioned Murdoch’s ability to reason.
“Rupert Murdoch, brah, if ur concerned about bridging the racial divide, how ’bout pulling the plug on that new-fangled Klan rally, Fox News?” asked actor Jeffrey Wright.
Rupert Murdoch once again has no problem making potentially incendiary comments on Twitter.
Murdoch also suggested his followers read an article detailing the black community’s disappointment in Obama as president. “He may shoot me but he can’t get us all, ‘” he said on CBS” This Morning. “Everywhere pundits keep underestimating Ben Carson”, he tweeted Friday.
“I would not just stand there and let him shoot me”, Carson said.
Murdoch has been publicly supportive of Carson, especially on social media.
