EU PS Store Update: 06/10/15 – Uncharted, Rock Band & Star Wars Battlefront Beta
Survival Mission on Tatooine: Play alone or with a friend via co-op or split-screen as you battle to hold off waves of Imperial forces including AT-ST’s, TIE fighters, elite stormtroopers and more.
But if you’re unconvinced it’s Walker Assault which shows the game at its most ambitious.
Interestingly, Battlefront is one of AMD’s featured games.
The upcoming open beta for EA’s and DICE’s highly anticipated multiplayer shooter “Star Wars Battlefront” is just a few days away, and now DICE has detailed how the game’s tie-in mobile companion app will function.
Missing Sullust, Tatooine or Hoth already? Even if you have no particular love for the films the music, the sound effects, and the art design are beautifully realised and elevate an already good game into something truly special.
The beta itself advises you to get a few practice in before tackling the 40-man Walker Assault mode, which still seems to be the jewel in Battlefront’s lightsabre.
Regardless of my disgust for this content gating (which has very little to do with skill, or people like me would never get anywhere), I’m going to stick it out for the duration of the Battlefront beta. Battlefront is still an objective based game at heart, but I also felt powerful as an individual solider. After the sublime experience I had playing Walker Assault at TGS 2015, I was super excited to get in there and make war on the stars, or whatever. However, I wish there was a way to bring more than one person with me as a party online. Many times I would find myself spawning into the crosshairs of an enemy or orbital strike. The game looks great and plays well but how long it’s going to last is hard to say, especially if a few of the minor modes, like Drop Zone, are less than inspired. And as you see another player striding across the landscape as one or the other it’s a mixture of both fear and intense jealously. While the spawn killing didn’t happen too frequently, it still happened enough times to become noticeably irritating during most matches.
This concludes a few of our thoughts on the Star Wars Battlefront Beta. Hell, you don’t even have to have PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live. This PS4 open beta starts on October 8th and is expected to debut on the Xbox One shortly thereafter. Please feel free to let us know how your experience was in the comments section below.
