Ben Carson Under Fire Again For Controversial Comments
Carson said if he were president, he would not travel to Roseburg.
“The shooter can only shoot one person at a time“. The chart’s title says it all: “The States With the Most Gun Laws See the Fewest Gun-Related Deaths”.
In response to one supporter who asked him if his stance on the Second Amendment changed following the shooting in Oregon, Carson wrote, “I grew up in the slums of Detroit”.
Another excuse Ben Carson seemed to give for the shooting is the failure of people to recognize the mental issues within the shooters before they go on their rampage. “There are warning signs”.
“There is no doubt that this senseless violence is breathtaking – but I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away”. He made the same argument on Fox and Friends. Carson on Tuesday said he probably would not have visited the Oregon community if he were president, because that would inject politics into a tragedy.
“I would say ‘Hey, guys, everybody attack him!'” he added. “Because you have to keep cleaning up these comments?”
Carson also informed USA Today on Tuesday that if he had a child in kindergarten, he would feel “much more comfortable” if their teacher was armed. He’s stated that giving kindergarten teachers firearms to protect the students is a more viable answer than making firearms more hard for mentally unstable people to purchase.
Ben Carson doubled down Wednesday on his comments about standing up to a shooter such as the one in Oregon last week, commenting that he wants to “plant in people’s minds” what they should do in a similar situation.
Carson argued that the criticism of his remarks was “sort of an immature attitude”.
Previously he stated gun laws should focus on the “crazies” out there responsible for the mass shootings, according to NBC News.
“I don’t deal with it to be honest with you, because we’re living in a culture now where you have a group of people who just sit there-they don’t try to listen to what you’re saying. And I think they are smarter than that and they’re not going to be manipulated”. And as with all of Ben Carson’s interviews-he probably would have been better off staying home.
