Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski says he will learn from Tottenham
Swansea City fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to have their say on the performance of Andre Ayew against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Swansea City’s goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has branded the 23-year-old Tottenham star as the Premier League’s best free kick taker.
Spurs dominated for long spells at the Liberty Stadium, but fell behind twice and needed Eriksen’s heroics to ensure that they extended their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches.
“Is he the best?”
“I knew what to expect, but for the first one I lost it”. “So that might answer the question”, Fabianski said, as quoted by the Mirror.
Tottenham’s Eric Dier has praised team-mate Christian Eriksen for his ability at set-pieces, calling the midfielder’s free-kicks a “fantastic weapon”, as reported by the club’s official website. However, the Pole was beaten all ends by the Dane irrespective of his preparation, which led to him developing a grudging respect for his opponent.
“He not only gets the ball over the wall, puts a load of pressure into the shot as well”. Due to the side they have not realistically being good enough to compete for the top four in the Premier League at the moment, and also facing the same tough competition in the FA Cup, the Europa League could represent an excellent opportunity for them to come close to a trophy this year.
“I watched his free kick against Man City when he hit the bar and Harry Kane scored from the rebound”.
‘I didn’t see the ball exactly, the flight of the ball.
“It’s all about the view”.
“The second was a good free-kick, but I have got to analyse it. I think I could have done better even with the second one”, he said.
“I can’t remember seeing anyone better at free kicks, here or in Portugal. We were a bit unlucky, you need luck in football to win the game, and we played better than Swansea”.
And yet the attitude from English teams competing seem to be dismissive, nearly annoyed that they have to take part in what is so clearly a sideshow for them to the main even, the Premier League.
