Missing king cobra captured, returned to owner
The snake was shedding, however, which made it more dormant.
According to a few raw video posted to WFTV.com, a woman was putting a few things away behind her dryer when she heard hissing noises and noticed the snake.
Animal Services officer Billy Ledford said the snake was aggressive.
Animal control officers and police responded and found the snake under the dryer.
Authorities say the non-native, venomous snake put up a small fight when they tried to catch it.
Officers returned Elvis to its owner.
“Mike was tireless in his search for this animal”, Valerie Kennedy said. Students at a nearby elementary school weren’t allowed to play outside for two weeks as a safety precaution.
The Discovery Channel star whose 8-foot king cobra escaped captivity in early September has entered a not guilty plea on criminal charges related to the incident. He said he searched for the snake by emptying his garage and attic several times.
“He’s been through a lot, the community has been through a lot, our family has been through a lot, so I’m just thankful it’s ended up positive”, said Kennedy. His 5-acre property, known as Dragon Ranch, is a refuge for abandoned or displaced exotic animals, including other snakes, crocodiles, alligators and even a leopard.
