Stephenville High School evacuated, RCMP on scene
School officials and law enforcement evacuated students from Winlock High/Middle School shortly after noon Monday, after a message was found in the school warning of a bomb going off in the afternoon.
He said it was a very serious mistake.
“Parents were getting texts from their kids who were saying all these things about a bomb threat, a gun threat, and we didn’t know what was true and what was just rumors”, she said. The note by the girl also stated a bomb threat involved a shooting. The building was checked and cleared at approximately 1:50 p.m.
“No students, faculty or staff were injured”.
The juvenile was taken into custody without incident on Monday.
“The email we got was so vague so I rushed to the school”, she said.
The county bomb squad as well as police canines searched the building, Gerhardt said.
The girl will be charged with inducing panic and further charges are possible, Masi said.
The school tweeted around 10:15 a.m. that students were safely evacuated and bused home due to a safety concern.
He said the superintendent did an excellent job of following protocol.
