Will Smith Has Never Met Jared Leto, Only The Joker
Will Smith admitted during an interview on Beats Radio 1 that he never really met Jared Leto on the set of “Suicide Squad”. Jai Courteney (who plays Captain Boomerang) said that Leto has been consistent in maintaining The Joker’s persona, on or off screen.
“I’ve never actually met Jared Leto”, said Smith. The news outlet further said that “Suicide Squad” will most likely provide a closer and deeper look into the clowned villain’s mind. What’s up?’ [and] ‘Hey, Will, how you doing, nice to meet you?’… What’s up?’ Not a single word exchanged off-camera.
Tales of on-site therapists, Jared Leto gifting people live rats and the squad branding each other with tattoos – not that anyone in the cast has any formal training in that very permanent/very painful medium – came out from behind the scenes since almost the first day of shooting. And while the two filmed together for six months, Smith reveals that they never spoke outside of their characters.
“Howard said Will says for 6 months they never exchanged a word outside of action and cut”, according to MarksFriggin, as he referred to Will Smith, who plays Deadshot in the film. “[Leto] called me to talk about his approach to the character and I steered him in a few directions”.
“I’m not gonna kill you…” In the first season, viewers met Gendry, a blacksmith in the royal armory whose parentage remains a mystery, but Joe Dempsie who played the part revealed he never met the Jack Gleeson who played the part of King Joffrey, which Dempsie originally auditioned for.
“Suicide Squad” is the third installment in Warner Bros.’ superhero franchise, after “Man of Steel” and the upcoming “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice”.
The Suicide Squad film is scheduled to be released on August 5, 2016.
