Chelsea: ‘Manager Jose Mourinho has our full support’
It was a deserved win for Ronald Koeman’s Southampton, but Mourinho felt Chelsea should have had a penalty at 1-1, when Radamel Falcao was booked for diving.
Mourinho was similarly unimpressed with the decision not to award his side a penalty in their 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace on 29 August, and claimed last season there was a conspiracy against Chelsea.
“We are not in the familiar position we are normally in”.
The FA alleges his comments “imply bias on the part of a match official”.
“He has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge”.
The 34-year-old added: “It is down to the group of players and the manager to get ourselves out of it and we must do that very soon”. I assume my responsibility and the players should assume theirs too. Like many teams find, it is hard to come back after winning the Premier League, we have seen it with Man City.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is understood to have remained at Stamford Bridge until around midnight after the 3-1 defeat by Southampton as the club conducted an urgent inquest and examined their options.
“The penalty was a giant penalty and the referee was afraid to give it, like everyone else is afraid to give it”.
Jose Mourinho admits Chelsea’s hopes of defending their English Premier League soccer title have all but disappeared.
Chelsea Manager, Jose Mourinho has said he will only leave Chelsea if players in the club tell him he is no longer wanted.
‘As Jose has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team’s performances must improve. However, the club manager remains confident that his squad has the quality and a little bit of confidence boost will help to turn their season around.
The 52-year-old, who had a highly successful first spell from June 2004 to September 2007 before returning in June 2013, was adamant he would not be quitting.
“People can say what they want. But I want to repeat because my players deserve it, Chelsea fans deserve it” said Mourinho immediately after the game.
