Connecticut university student arrested over mac and cheese
During the September 1 incident, Luke Gatti was arrested for disorderly conduct, during which time he reportedly called a police officer a racial slur.
According to Snapchat images posted by Death and Taxes, as well as several tweets from UConn students, Gatti was later expelled.
Gatti, who’s from Bayville, New York, did not return a phone call or an email seeking comment. “Beyond that federal privacy law prevents us from discussing anything further on his case”.
“Generally speaking, any UConn student found to have violated the provisions of the Student Code may face penalties imposed by the Division of Student Affairs that range from probation to expulsion”, a university spokesperson told The Hartford Courant.
Despite photos published by Barstool Sports and Gawker showing Luke Gatti apparently leaving the University of Connecticut’s campus, the man behind this week’s viral macaroni and cheese meltdown is still enrolled in the university.
Gatti was previously a student at the University of Massachusetts and was twice arrested a year ago on disorderly conduct charges, according to the Daily Hampshire Gazette in Northampton, Massachusetts.
The manager said that he cannot walk inside the cafeteria with an open can of alcohol.
When the manager asks his age, Gatti admits he is 19 and therefore has been underage drinking.
He raved and said that he wanted macaroni and cheese – saying he would leave after that.
The manager stands firm, telling him: ‘You are not welcome here. At that point, an employee physically intervened, and Gatti was pinned to the ground.
As the officer handcuffed him, Gatti can be heard proclaiming, “I am absolutely F-ed”.
By this time, a crowd of students have formed around them to watch the spectacle.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m going to get expelled for this”.
‘You don’t do it by assaulting people, ‘ he is told.
The Hartford Courant added that attempts to reach Gatti at the university and at his family’s home were unsuccessful.
In the chaos, Gatti loses his sandals – which are actually right next to his head – and is extremely concerned about locating them. Finally, he made the mistake of shoving the food court manager.
Gatti is scheduled to appear in court October. 13, according to the Courant. Police and the manager said Gatti had been refused service for carrying an open alcohol container.
