Market 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition Bids Farewell
Based on the Lancer Evolution GSR, the Final Edition car has a few tweaks to set it apart as an exclusive farewell model. The headliner, pillars, sun visors, and assist handles are black.
But over its 10 generations, a complete lack of subtlety has always been the car’s raison d’être and the reason why petrol heads in Europe and Japan and gearheads in North America love it so. Suggestively called the 2015 Lancer Evolution Final Edition, it will be available in the United States in a limited run of 1,600 numbered units, each priced from $37,995 (excluding destination).
Fortunately, Mitsu is sending it off in a blaze of glory, as it will offer a more performance-oriented Final Edition model here in the U.S. They were GSR (five-speed manual) only, but we didn’t know whether or not Mitsubishi added any engine upgrades or not. The heart of the Final Edition is a 5-speed transmission paired with a turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder 2.0L engine, producing 303 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 305 lb-ft torque at 4,000 rpm.
One can also see red accents on the all black gear knob, steering wheel, floor mats and console lids. This Evo is also offered in four colors: Pear White, which is a new color in the lineup, Rally Red, Mercury Gray, and Octane Blue.
Two-piece Brembo brake rotors up front keep the power in check, while Eibach springs and Blistein shock absorbers help the driver make the most of the four-banger’s output both on and off the track.
On the safety front, the Evo X Final Edition gets the Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) all wheel drive system featuring three selectable traction mode settings – Tarmac, Gravel and Snow.
