Nigeria Senate names 20 nominees for president’s new Cabinet

He said there was no doubt that the President was able to assemble men and women of integrity to assist him in salvaging the country.

Let me recall a short dialogue the late environmentalist, Ken Saro-Wiwa, had with one of the judges that sentenced him to death.

It is a bold and unmistakable statement that Mr. President is very clear about his mission to reposition our great country.

“Obasanjo today belongs to those who are chief advisers to President Muhammadu Buhari”.

Enang said both of them chose to brief journalists together for “the sake and interest of Nigeria”.

Former National Publicity Secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum, Mr. Anthony Sani, in his reaction urged Nigerians not to judge President Buhari by ministerial and other appointments made so far.

He said the nominee was part and parcel of the previous government and an active member of the PDP.

A few of the 20 people nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari have at one time or the other been accused of actions unbecoming of a public office holder under the current administration which is widely believed to abhor corruption or any “appearance of evil” – from lawless habits, to attitude to public office and public trust.

The PDP said this is so especially considering the length of time it took the President to come up with it. Does it make sense?

What is also important though: nobody said we made the wrong choice in the elections, but maybe the noticeable Change we wait for is just around the corner.

National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, said he is disappointed with the list because most of the names on the list are analogue people who have nothing to contribute.

As bitter, though also wise, as it may sound, Nigerians say we all should unite under Buhari’s government and suggest constructive criticism, as we have no other choice.

The President’s emissary, Ita Enang reached the senators of the opposition party through their Minority Leader, Godswil Akpabio, yesterday evening.
