Suspect in custody after Culpeper school lockdown Wednesday morning
He is a student now enrolled at the Master Charter School-Pickett campus. O’Brien said a gun had not been recovered at the time of the suspect’s apprehension.
While officials said security cameras showed the student leaving the high school, he was taken into custody at an undisclosed location.
Charges are now pending.
“I would rather the school text me ad nauseam, I would rather have 19 emails then find out about it on social media”, Johnson said.
Virginia State Police report no injuries as a result of the incident.
Parents were told to meet at the CCHS auditorium parking lot.
Culpeper County Public Schools said around 1:45 p.m. that the schools had resumed their normal routines, and parents wishing to pick up their children could do so. Police said the student, who was enrolled at the high school on Stenton Avenue near Haines Street in East Germantown but didn’t attend any classes this year, never made it onto school grounds.
According to officials, a student at another high school informed them an MLK High School student had the weapon. Updates will be released every 30 minutes, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement is on scene searching the building and students. Stay with Action News and 6abc.com for more information as it becomes available.
