Coach bus crash sends numerous travelers to hospital
State police say a bus driver is dead following a crash in Norwalk.
The driver of the truck was not hurt.
The bus was operated by RC Travelways, Inc., the Hartford Courant reported.
Rescue crews arrived on scene to find that a coach bus had hit the rear of the truck.
The bus had 42 adult passengers aboard, mostly from the New Jersey area, who were traveling from Boston to New York City at the time of the crash.
Norwalk firefighters extricated Woolfson from the bus with serious injuries.
Officials said 18 of those passengers were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Two lanes were reopened just before 8:30 p.m., after all three lanes were closed for almost two hours.
The accident was reported at 3:20 p.m. on southbound I-95 between Exits 14 and 15, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
