Two undertrials killed in Tihar jail clash
Both were declared dead by doctors at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. They were being taken back to their ward around 2pm under escort by prison officials and Tamil Nadu police personnel. The Gangs of Tihar Jail Ishwar, a historysheeter from Raghubeer Nagar, was lodged in the high security ward and had been brought to the jail dispensary for an eye-check around 1pm.
“At about 2 pm, they were returning along with the security officers, but were attacked by three other undertrial prisoners, Anil Chaudhary, Vasu and Sandeep”, he added. They shouted slogans against the jail authorities and demanded action. Initially they thrashed him and later stabbed him. Ishwar and his two associates retaliated with stones and bricks during the clash, he said.To save himself from the attackers, Ishwar ran towards ward numb… They attacked other inmates, Sher Mohd, Shailender and Afroz, who tried to stop them, the sources added.
Tihar jail sources stated another prisoners of Jail numbers 1, 2 and 4 additionally joined the struggle, resulting in damage to a few dozen undertrials and safety employees. Ishwar’s companions and a few others rushed to his rescue and clashed with Anil and hs accomplices.
Prasad stated jail employees and another prisoners have been additionally injured whereas making an attempt to regulate the state of affairs. Anil was also taken to hospital.
Delhi government today ordered a magisterial inquiry to probe the death of two under-trials in the high-security Tihar Jail yesterday and also sought a detailed report from the prison administration.
