In writings, Ore. gunman ranted about having no girlfriend

Lacey Scroggins was in a writing class last week at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., when a man burst in and started shooting people.

The official also said the mother of gunman Christopher Harper-Mercer, 26, has told investigators he was struggling with mental health issues.

Authorities initially suggested the gunman had been killed in a shootout with two Roseburg police officers arriving on the scene of Thursday’s attack in a classroom building at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg.

A dating profile belonging to Harper Mercer on website Spiritual Passions is listed under the username Ironcross45 – a reference to the German military medal associate with the Nazis. Once, neighbors said, she went door-to-door with a petition to exterminate the cockroaches in her apartment, claiming they bothered Mercer.
“The blood of that boy that covered my daughter saved her life”, Scroggins said. The gunman thought his daughter was dead.
Pastor Scroggins says his daughter and his town will not be victims and encourages Christians in America not to lose faith. As if to say, “We will not be defined by violence”…
