Rihanna unveils album title, cover
Hosting the event at Mama Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles” Arts District, the singer revealed the new album’s title, “Anti’, with a written explanation on the entryway wall, defining the word as “a person opposed to a particular policy, activity or idea”. Over the red-and-white canvas cover, a poem written by Chloe Mitchell is written in Braille.
Last month, Rihanna revealed fans may still have a long wait for the album – which was tentatively named ‘#R8’ by her fans – as she is still working on it.
Rihanna’s eighth album will be titled, “ANTI.”
I sometimes fear that I am misunderstood. It is simply because what I want to say, what I need to say, won’t be heard. Heard in a way I so rightfully deserve.
“So to talk about it and say it once, much less 200 times, is like…”
My shield, and all that I am. I will comfortably breath in it, until I find the moment to be silent. “If they let us…”
The artwork – designed by Israeli-born New York-based artist Roy Nachum – features an image of Rihanna as a child holding a balloon and wearing a crown which obscures her eyes.
There is still no release date for “ANTI”, which will be the R&B star’s first album since 2012′s “Unapologetic”. What remains to be seen is whether this is simply a rebranding of the current album, or an entirely new creation.
