Threat Forces Lockdown At Martin Luther King High School
The high school, middle school and an alternative school were put on lockdown after police received reports of a student with a weapon on a school bus.
Three schools in Culpeper County were on a lockdown for most of the day Wednesday after a student made a threat, the school system says. Surveillance video showed him leaving school property toward the town of Culpeper. O’Brien said a gun had not been recovered at the time of the suspect’s apprehension.
That person, a male juvenile, was taken into custody at 10th and Nedro streets near the Fern Rock SEPTA station.
Charges are now pending.
The lockdown was lifted at MLK High School around 9:30 a.m.
The suspect was apprehended off campus before just noon Wednesday, and the schools placed on a modified lock down. Dozens of law enforcement from VSP, CPD and Sheriff’s office are on scene. Authorities found it “at a residence” that was not the student’s home, Jenkins said.
Parents are being allowed to pickup their children. A state police spokeswoman said the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office planned a news conference to discuss the arrest. Updates for parents are being made available on the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
