LCD Soundsystem Set to Return in 2016
Multiple sources have reportedly told the outcome of Sound music news website that the band will return in 2016. We’ll be hitting refresh on their official site waiting for the announcement to drop.
Effect of Sound reported the reunion earlier Thursday, citing “multiple sources”.
When the incredibly celebrated dance revivalists LCD Soundsystem played their farewell show at Madison Square Garden in 2011, they proudly proclaimed, “If it’s a funeral, let’s have the best funeral ever!!!” However, this breakup might have just been a hiatus: A well-placed source has confirmed to Billboard that the James Murphy-led band is “definitely reuniting” in 2016.
A rep for LCD Soundsystem’s label wrote a series of scathing tweets refuting rumors that the group was eyeing a 2016 reunion, after reports surfaced online suggesting it was a possibility. Murphy and company disbanded not quite a year after dropping their third album, This Is Happening.
A representative for LCD Soundsystem could not confirm our report. Update: DFA Records, which is co-owned by Murphy, retweeted the news.
