Milan Lucic leaves unwanted first impression

After leaving the penalty box, San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture caught Lucic with a check. Lucic took exception to the hit, and a scuffle ensued.

And just prior to impact, Lucic picked Couture up on his radar screen.

Lucic ended the night without a point and a -2 rating, but the biggest impression he made came at the end of the night.

Even with Lucic’s self-imposed elevation/jump, at no time did Couture contact Milan Lucic at or below his opponent’s knee.

“I honestly didn’t think he was going to come all the way”, Couture said of Lucic. At impact, Lucic rolled over the back of Couture and both players fell to the ice. “I didn’t cross any line, so obviously I deserved a penalty, but I don’t know why it was called a match penalty”.

By earning a match penalty that means that Lucic is automatically suspended for the Kings’ next game pending a review by the league.
