F. Gary Gray Confirmed to Direct ‘Fast & Furious 8’
Well it’s official, F. Gary Gray will follow-up his wildly successful N.W.A. biopic with Universal’s eighth installment of Fast & Furious.
The film will once again star Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson, as well as Jason Statham and Kurt Russell. On September 25, Diesel cleared up that “NO ONE” had seen a script or been chosen as a director yet via his Facebook page. Gary follows in the footsteps of directors Justin Lin and James Wan.
Gray announced the news on his Twitter account, ending speculation that filmmakers like “The Incredible Hulk’s” Louis Leterrier and “The Guest’s” Adam Wingard would take over, or perhaps series star Vin Diesel moving into the director role. The picture shows the two meeting in front of a collage of “Fast & Furious” stills, presumably discussing the directorial gig that now belongs to Gray.
Hollywood has been speculating about who will direct the next Fast and Furious film.
Gray, whose “Straight Outta Compton” delivered a hit for Universal, has among his credits a string of action thrillers, most notably “The Negotiator”, “The Italian Job” and “Law Abiding Citizen”.
