‘The Voice’ Season 9 Judges Teams Are Full: Blind Auditions Recap
Pinay singer Amy Vachal has made it to The Voice Season 9 Battle Rounds!
On the last episode, the blind auditions continued with its fifth part.
Shelby isn’t the only contestant on the show with Alabama connections.
Caroline Burns gave it her all for the very last spot on season nine. Whereas other contestants have cited losing a parent, losing their hearing or overcoming extreme poverty, Dustin merely mentions his lazy eye. Shelton hollered, “Please pick me!” even as Vachal was still singing her song, and at the end, the coaches gave her a standing ovation.
Dustin Christensen sang “Downtown Train” and managed to turn around all four chairs.
She had her pick of all of the judges but ultimately chose Team Adam. “I’m so impressed”, he said. This is jeans and boots… he has a vest, I’m a vester.
The biggest surprise from the final night of blind auditions was an incredibly talented teenager named Shelby Brown.
Vachal, 26, strumming her guitar, launched into a gorgeous rendition of the 1931 tune that has since been performed by legendary singers like Ozzie Nelson, Ernie Birchill, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Doris Day, Anita Harris, Robbie Williams, and many more.
“Deep breath, deep breath”, Levine told her. “Just breathe in and out”. His voice is undeniably a better fit for Team Adam, and he must agree, because Monk picked Levine. “I’m so pleased to say, because you are so great…MY TEAM IS FULL”. Vachal grew up surrounded by music, and her dad was even in a Grateful Dead cover band. Shelby noted that Potter is “a rock singer, but she’s also collaborated with Kenny Chesney, who’s a country singer”.
Blake seemed most upset about losing Amy Vachal, 26, from Brooklyn, New York, after her stunning version of Dream a Little Dream of Me. “Won that two years, and now they book me for my own gigs”, said Brown. Shelton called her a “superstar” and compared her to Norah Jones and Colbie Caillat. Celeste Betton on Team Pharrell graduated from Troy University.
The final artist to audition for a chance to fulfill their dreams on “The Voice” was Sydney Rhame. Sydney Rhames sang “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran.
Despite going into the audition with country leanings, Shelby joins Team Adam. She got Pharrell’s attention, and he turned to make her the final addition to his team.
The teenager was so good that even though Shelton, Stefani and Levine could not press their buttons to turn around, they faced her anyway. The Battle Round begins next week. Tuesday’s episode will recap all the blind auditions and will revisit a few of the highlights from the audition phase of the competition.
