New Hillary TV Ad Stars House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy
“People enjoy hunting and shooting because it’s an important part of who they are”.
“This is a classic Clinton attempt to distract from her record of putting classified information at risk and jeopardizing our national security, all of which the FBI is investigating”, said spokeswoman Emily Schillinger.
During a campaign appearance, she veered between sadness and anger, accusing Republicans of “surrender” to a hard political problem.
A House committee is investigating Clinton’s role as secretary of state in security lapses that preceded the September 11, 2012, attack that left four Americans dead, including the USA ambassador to Libya; the failure to send help as Americans fought and died over an eight-hour period; and the subsequent false cover story that it was rioting over an anti-Islamic movie and not a planned, heavily armed terrorist attack. “I can’t unlock the mysteries of that”, McCarthy said.
These comments come just days after Clinton called for new regulations on guns shows and guns sold online, and for an expansion of the definition of domestic violence to include dating relationships, thereby potentially barring a whole new demographic from owning guns for self-defense.
Her campaign rolled out a robust set of proposals Monday, including using executive action as president to expand background check requirements.
But Clinton’s not alone in pushing for tighter gun control.
It was a gift that Clinton desperately needed. Clinton said she supports the 2013 Senate bill expanding background checks on gun purchases, which most Republicans argue will not prevent determined individuals from getting their hands on gun.
Clinton’s announcement comes as Australia’s example has again become central to the bitter debate over gun rights in America.
Mrs Clinton would also repeal legislation that protects gun manufactures and retailers from being sued for negligence.
Her leading rival is Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. While Sanders has wooed the Democratic base with his liberal positions on issues of income inequality and college debt, he has struggled to defend a more mixed record on gun legislation that reflects his rural, gun-friendly home state.
Clinton highlighted McCarthy’s comments in Monday’s campaign events and is expected to do so Tuesday as well. “Sanders talk about himself”.
Now, Clinton and Sanders have similarly-sized campaign funds.
Most initial national ad buys, as HotAir’s Allahpundit correctly points out, are used to introduce a candidate or (as one might assume in Hillary’s case) give a softer look to a well-known and highly divisive candidate.
Although it should be obvious that a murderer who passed a background check could not have been stopped by a background check, such simple logic seems to elude advocates of “common sense gun safety laws”.
In addition, Clinton expressed support for the suggestion to form a National Rifle Association alternative.
