News Corp head Rupert Murdoch tweets suggestion Barack Obama isn’t ‘a real
In a tweet the media mogul compared Obama to the Republicans’ only black candidate in the presidential race, Dr. Ben Carson.
“Obama has long identified as black and spoken frankly about the African-American experience and the problems posed by racism in the United States”, said The Guardian’s Ben Jacobs. He didn’t link to it, but he was apparently referencing a column titled “Has Barack Obama Done Enough for African-Americans?”
Murdoch has been publicly supportive of Carson, especially on social media. Carson, Detroit ghetto to brilliant neurosurgeon.
When Bill Clinton was president, many referred to him as “America’s first black president”, a title he happily relinquished when Mr Obama came along.
But Murdoch’s tweet, meant as a compliment to Carson, didn’t go over well with all.
“Rupert Murdoch, much less FOX Noise has ZERO credibility to part their lips & say anything about the US Black lives they regularly demonize”, blogger Monica Roberts wrote. “But public understand humility as admirable, listen to the multi-faceted strong message”.
Calling for his 600,000 Twitter followers to watch Carson on TV show Kelly Rile on Monday, Murdoch then praised the candidate’s appearance.
Van Jones, Obama’s former environmental czar, called Murdoch’s tweet “juvenile c-p” during a CNN segment. Carson didn’t have any immediate response about Murdoch.
