Ivory, Fitzpatrick lead Jets over Dolphins 27-14 at Wembley
Those winnable games account for half of the Jets’ remaining 12 contests.
The Jets lead the Dolphins 13-7 approaching halftime in London. But other than that, the defense impressed. Could it be the 4-1 Jets against the 5-0 Patriots? Now all they have to do is beat the Miami Dolphins to make their trip to London a smashing success. Now, the Jets are heading into their bye week with high hopes and a 3-1 record. The Miami defense didn’t have an answer for Chris Ivory, Brandon Marshall, or even Ryan Fitzpatrick scrambling. Green, coming off a 227-yard performance and AFC player of the week honors, had seven catches for 82 yards.
Andy Dalton completed his first 10 pass attempts and finished with 321 yards, and running back Jeremy Hill scored three touchdowns as Cincinnati improved to 4-0 for the third time in franchise history with victory over Kansas City.
Fortunately for the Jets, they have a bye for this upcoming week. He delivered punishing blows to any Dolphin who dared take him on.
Of course in the game of pro football, injuries are everywhere. All of the players left the game and didn’t return. Decker later returned, but was used sparingly in the lineup.
Enter 2015, with Mike Maccagnan taking over as the general manager and Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles taking over for Rex Ryan as the head coach.
“Chris is an awesome running back”, outside linebacker Calvin Pace said to Dom Cosentino of NJ.com. That’s good news for both Harris and Pryor, but there was no word on rookie Leonard Williams’ injury. If he can’t play in two weeks against the Washington Redskins, the Jets have a decent replacement – a fellow by the name of Sheldon Richardson, whose four-game drug suspension ends Monday.
Although the Jets looked pretty good in most areas, the penalty problem reared it’s ugly head once again. Against the Jets, the Dolphins allowed 207 rushing yards and didn’t register a single sack. We got to get that area fixed. Luckily the Jets dominated in most other facets of the game, otherwise it might have been a closer and sloppier looking game.
The National Football League reviewed Suh’s hit on Morris in the season opener and deemed it not to be intentional. There is still the pending legal matter of Richardson’s recent arrest for traffic violations and resisting arrest, but that likely won’t be addressed until later in the season if not after.
