Lenny Kravitz and actor James Franco battle for ‘Guitar Hero’ fans
Helmed by director Jonathan Krisel (Portlandia, SNL), the “Win the Crowd” spot features the actor and the legendary rock-star going head-to-head to see who truly is the king of the music festival circuit in Guitar Hero Live.
Activision Publishing has unveiled a new video for Guitar Hero Live, which will be available in October 20, 2015 in North America and on October 23 in Europe, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Wii U – select mobile devices will be announced soon. They had great chemistry and had a lot of fun with the game.
It’s predictably silly watching Franco teach Kravitz proper guitar-handling skills, and even sillier at the end when the stunt goes a bit too far. Guitar Hero Live’s structure eliminates one-time purchases entirely, instead placing its add-on content behind a paywall that demands payment for every play. First off, GHTV promises personally-curated (not algorithm-based) music channels based around different genres of rock.
Guitar Hero Live will feature playable songs from Pearl Jam, Gerard Way, Wavves, The Black Keys, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, The War On Drugs, The Rolling Stones, Skrillex, Weezer and others.
As the Guitar Hero dudes say, “We just let them loose” and this is what happened.
This way, FreeStyleGames hopes that players will be exposed to more new tracks to play – and never have to fork over real world cash to just play what comes up. “We looked long and hard at the way it used to be in past music games – you pay a few bucks for a song to add to your library”. Guitar Hero Live offers no such option for players who purchased DLC in legacy Guitar Hero games.
