Google launches Delhi Public Transport app
“Google Maps is already a must – where it can be used – but local apps like these have vast potential for locals and visitors alike”.
Apart from searching for directions to your destination, this app will let you to view bus and metro timetables and receive notifications about Delhi transit news and metro delays.
The software solution is now available only for Android, and as the name indicates, it will deliver routes, timetables and directions for buses and metro in New Delhi. Interestingly, the new app is built in with the Google maps, which does not consume much internet data and will help users get transit directions easily during offline.
It seems odd that Google would release a single app that provides transport solutions to one of several hundreds of busy cities in the world, but it seems that Delhi Public Transport is more or less experimental, possibly paving way for more apps of the same nature. Supports DMRC Metro, DTC bus, Gurgaon Rapid Metro, and DIMTS Orange buses.
The US firm last month announced plans to bring Wi-Fi to India’s train stations, and now this new app addresses another issue with commuting and traveling: actually getting about. App users can also give feedback to the Google maps team by going on the button at the top of the app and the feedback will be incorporated into the future versions of this app and for Google Maps, as per the search giant. WhatsApp ndash; through which the app can be downloaded directly even without a Google Play Store account. Google is headquartered in Silicon Valley with offices throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
