Kyle Singler, Thunder Agree Upon Five-Year, $25M Deal
Even though Kanter was productive last season after coming over from Utah at the trade deadline, one can see why he’d want to lock down a deal to stay with the Thunder.
Agent Greg Lawrence of Wasserman Media Group completed the deal with general manager Sam Presti Wednesday in Oklahoma City. A healthy Durant in a contract year will go a long way, and expectations ought to be high for Singler as a pivotal role player for a squad vying to return to the postseason. Kanter is also only 23 years old so he will also be able to develop his game and learn from players like Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison.
A second-round pick (No. 33 overall) of Detroit in the 2011 draft, Singler has posted averages of 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds over three National Basteball Association seasons.
On the opening day of free agency in the National Basteball Association, there are multiple reports the Oklahoma City Thunder have reached an agreement to re-sign Kyle Singler.
Real GM is reporting the Thunder has agreed to a free-agent deal with ex- Arkansas guard Michael Qualls. (Stop asking Marc Gasol, he’s not going anywhere.) For all of those teams, options still remain, but if the Oklahoma City Thunder get their way, Enes Kanter won’t be one of them. However, it will be hard for the Turkish big man to leave the situation he’s in with the Thunder.
