Steven Pressley Returns To The Managerial Arena With Fleetwood Town
Fleetwood, under the watchful eye of new manager Steven Pressley, bossed the early exchanges and could have taken the lead when Antoni Sarcevic bullied his way past Sam Patterson, stinging the palms of Jayson Leutwiler in the Shrewsbury goal.
The 41-year-old replaces former Scotland team-mate Graham Alexander, who was dismissed on 30 September.
Pressley, 41, played for Rangers, Coventry, Dundee United, Hearts, Celtic and Randers of Denmark before ending his playing career at Falkirk where he also had his first managerial job, taking charge in February 2010.
Pressley has brought in Neil MacFarlane, his assistant at Coventry, as number two while caretaker boss Chris Lucketti will stay on the coaching staff.
He told the club’s official website: “I am really pleased with the appointment”.
Pressley has returned to the dugout after bagging the Fleetwood Town job.
Pressley will bid to halt the Cod Army’s four match league losing streak when he takes charge of his new troops on Saturday, which is coincidentally against former club Coventry.
He said: “We had to give a few people time tonight”. “We want to play an exciting style of football that will entertain the public”.
He kept the Sky Blues in League One in his first full season in charge despite serious financial difficulties which resulted in the club being docked 10 points for going into administration. We are convinced he will do very well at Fleetwood Town given everything that we have to offer him’.
