Mix-up causes woman to glue eye shut

Speaking to the station WPBF, Gaydos said she realized that something bad had occurred the moment the sticky substance made contact with her eye.

An unfortunate gal in Florida has had her left eye superglued shut for hours before a doctor was eventually able to pry them open after applying anaesthetic.

The mishap occurred when someone using a leaf blower last week blew debris into Gaydos’ eye.

One Florida woman’s eye was glued shut after a friend accidentally put super glue in her eye instead of eye drops.

While Gaydos’ injury could make nearly anyone cringe, experts say people mistake eye drops and Super Glue all too often.

“As soon as I felt it in my eye I felt it burn and I closed my eye and screamed ‘Call 911, ‘” she told WPBF-TV.

The single mother of two was being treated by a doctor but couldn’t continue payment, because she’s unemployed without insurance.

“The first thing I think everyone needs to know is don’t panic”, Gupta told ABC News.

After her story aired on television, Gaydos received a call from a different doctor at the same office.

When she went to seek medical help, a doctor told her she may have to undergo surgery and could lose her eye.

“He said I should get my sight back, and not have permanent damage”, Gaydos told WPBF-TV.

Gaydos said she would try the hospital next.
