Philadelphia Eagles Need Chip Kelly to be Better
Following the loss to the Washington Redskins, Murray made it clear that he wants the ball more. It falls on the offensive line.
On Thursday, Murray lauded the veteran group of guys on the team, believing players’ pride will help turn things around and not “fold up”. For four weeks we’ve played a few pretty good defenses.
The Eagles signed Maxwell to a $63 million free agent contract this spring, but the secondary did not appear to play any better or worse without the former Seattle Seahawk in the lineup Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles head coach told Pro Football Talk that his play-calling hasn’t gotten the job done so far in 2015, leading directly to a lackluster offense and a poor start to the season.
The Eagles aren’t crashing the pocket and QB Drew Brees can thrive with time to set and throw if he’s willing to take the short outlet.
In just over two years with the Eagles, Kelly has brought to Philadelphia the madness that made him a successful coach at Oregon: He makes his players drink daily protein shakes, he has each player chart their sleeping habits and his practices move at a frenetic pace. New Orleans featured a much heavier reliance on the short-passing game as well as a potent rushing attack against Dallas.
“I think he should be fired after the season”, Bissinger said, clarifying he’d let Kelly go if the Eagles end the season with a losing record.
“You can only control what you can control”, he said. Davis simply shrugged them off and said the Fox announcer was trying to get his TV ratings up. “We all know what needs to happen to get this offense going”. “I know the message I’ve said to our team”.
Kelly’s marquee players additions have struggled along with the offense.
Fantasy owners should not quit on Murray just yet. You just can’t say it’s this guy’s fault.
“I don’t think I’m frustrated. Kind of everyone across the league”. Despite the differences, Murray called it a great scheme when they are able to properly execute the gameplan. I would love to get everybody in a right lather and going. There was a lot of us that could have made another play.
Sunday is essentially a must-win game for Murray and the Eagles, who can not afford to drop to 1-4 on the season and expect to rally to make the playoffs.
The biggest offensive frustration has been running game woes.
