Three 6 Mafia’s Koopsta Knicca Dies at 40
In his statement, Paul revealed that he and Knicca had just begun working on Devil’s Playground 2, but they didn’t have a chance to start recording before he passed.
Another member of Three 6 Mafia has passed away – Koopsta Knicca died on Thursday after suffering a stroke… according to DJ Paul.
The Memphis rapper, born Robert Cooper Phillips, reportedly suffered an aneurysm last weekend, which left him in critical condition. He went in peace.
In a statement released to the Commercial Appeal, Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul said “Everyone who knew Koop knew he was very amusing and the coolest guy ever”. We made classics together that’ll live on!!! Koopsta Knicca had just bought a home in Las Vegas and had been planning to move there this month.
He first tweeted a false alarm and retracted it – clarifying that Phillips had indeed suffered a stroke, but was still on life support. His death was confirmed through the groups’ publicist Dove Clark with The Commercial Appeal.
A GoFundMe had been launched to collect donations for his medical bills but not it will also help pay for his funeral.
Koopsta Knicca’s death follows that of Three 6 Mafia member Lord Infamous in 2013. “He had an Aneurysm yesterday in its blood on his brain”, Paul shared, updating fans earlier this week. Former Three 6 Mafia members Gangsta Boo and Juicy J shared their own rememberence on Twitter.
